The Host - Juinensis
The ten photographs that make up the series, The Host, are pictures of residue. Specifically the charred remains of bunches of flowers used in the making of The Four Horsemen. Whilst referring to the Angelic Host the resultant images also immediately recall masks or the features of imaginary insect lifeforms. The work takes two clear gestures, one a physical act - the other a digital manipulation to create a calculated visceral disturbance.
The names given to the individual works are taken from the insect order Zoraptera, commonly known as Angel Insects. Individual images are identified with names of species from the Zoraptera order. The works have previously been exhibited at Ceri Hand Gallery, London and Turnpike Gallery, Leigh.
Each image in the series was printed twice, once as a Lamda print and once as a C-type. As such the prints available here are unique prints. The framed versions are Lamda prints, front-mounted on acrylic and the framed size is 74cm x 74cm. The unframed versions are C-Type prints, board mounted, 67cm x 67cm.
