Splitting The Atom
Our 2016 film Courageous has just opened in Vilnius as part of the exhibition "Splitting the Atom". The exhibition itself is appropriately split between two sites, namely the Contemporary Art Centre and the Energy and Technology Museum. Our work is installed in a great space in the basement of the Energy and Technology Museum and sits really well amongst the tangle and pipes and ducting that keep the building running.
“Splitting the Atom” was initiated by Eglė Rindzevičiūtė as a parallel project to the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council networking project “Nuclear Cultural Heritage: From Knowledge to Practice”. The network’s partner project, “Atomic Heritage Goes Critical”, led by Anna Storm, will organise an international scientific conference on histories and cultures of atomic power in Vilnius and Ignalina in 2021. Our thanks to Ele Carpenter and to Arts Catalyst who originally commissioned the work. Photograph by Andrei Vasilenko.
