Digging Deep, Crossing Far

Very happy to announce our participation in  Digging Deep, Crossing Far_ 3rd Encounter: Berlin at Kunstraum Kreuzberg for which we produced a new work entitled Dschihad for Germany.

As the capital of the German Empire at the time of the First World War, Berlin was the political center of Germany.  It was also the base for the Intelligence Services for the Orient, located within the Foreign Office, who conceived and coordinated the German Jihad strategy.  Intended to forment rebellion amongst Muslim populations in countries under French and British colonial rule the stategy was support by a newpaper entitled "The Jihad"

Barely 30 kilometers away, to the south of Berlin, lay in Zossen the camp Weinberglager, and in Wünsdorf the Halbmondlager (Halfmoon Camp) for non-European prisoners of war.  The was the site of the first ever Mosque built on German soil and also the place where The Jihad was produced.

Dschihad for Germany looks at this historical curiosity in the context of synchronous developments in Eurythmy and Anthroposophical thinking in within the German speaking world.

Digging Deep, Crossing Far_ 3rd Encounter: Berlin runs from September 10 to November 13, 2016, at Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien.
